Back in 1997 over in the Newsgroups, (NG's), the battle was being waged over
this new satellite receiver called:
One should remember that anyone from GI was
not the most welcomed in the NG's.
This product was late in coming to market by a
couple of years and no one was given a definite answer in all that time as to
when this receiver would finally come out.
GI was not the most informative company around
and some tactics they used in the 80's were ever present on many people's minds.
One day a person came to the NG's and began
trying to explain and teach people about this new receiver.
That person went by the name of 4DTV. It was not
known to most people that his real name was
Mark Thevenot.
If there was ever a person who went through the trials of Hell, Mark did, yet he continued to try to help others and in the process he learned more then he ever bargained for.
Back in the NG's the receiver was being
attacked ferociously by a man going by the name of "Pelopas".
This lone individual made life unbearable in the
NG's for anyone trying to find real information about the 4DTV. It
reached a point that Mark decided it was time to get out of there and find a
better place for people to talk about it. He started with a mail- list
called "Cool List" but that lasted only a short while then he found
Delphi and they had a 4dtv forum over on Delphi where you can find out
about this satellite hobby. If you want to see more about it now you should go
there and locate the "4DTV" forum. http://www.delphi.com
Now the forum has moved once more and is located here: http://www.satforums.com/.
Back in June of '99 Mark was terminated from GI and almost closed down the forum. The response from the people who had grown to think highly of him for his openness and humor changed his mind.
For now if you want to see some of the VERY EARLY items that came up and the responses that were given you should enter into the next several pages of the more interesting things that went on.
This is being done so that the information
does not get lost in the shuffle.
